Smart home apps get opened for six seconds at a time, usually one-handed, often in the dark, to do one small thing. Anything requiring two hands or a second thought loses to the wall switch.
The work
Home surfaces the things people actually touch daily — temperature, lights, the room they are standing in — with rooms as tabs rather than a hierarchy to descend into. Everything reachable in one tap from the screen the app opens on.
The climate control was given a dial, because a temperature is a value on a range and a human hand already knows how to turn one. Stepper buttons are precise, and precise is not the point at eleven at night.

Device pairing shown as a search in progress. The riskiest moment in the product needed reassurance, not a spinner.
Scheduling reduced to two fields, from and to. Everything richer than that goes unused.
